Christmas Elf Hat (6-9 month old)
Let’s just get to the pattern:

- Yarn Bee Soft Secret in 3 colors:
- Color A: Garnet
- Color B: Forest
- Color C: Ivory
- Baby Bee Sweet Delight Yarn
- Color D: Naked
- 4mm Crochet Hook
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
- Toilet Paper Roll (for making pompom)
- Black (or Brown) Puff Paint
Hat Pattern:
With Color A, create a Magic Circle, ch 1, 4 SC into circle, SL ST into first SC, CH 2, turn.
Row 1: HDC around, SL ST into first HDC, CH 2, turn. [4]
Row 2: HDC, 2 HDC in next stitch, HDC, 2 HDC in next, SL ST into first HDC, CH 2, turn. [6]
Row 3: *HDC in the next 2 stitches, 2 HDC in next stitch* twice, SL ST with Color C into first HDC, CH 2, turn. [8]
Row 4: HDC around, SL ST with Color B into first HDC, CH 2, turn. [8]
Row 5: *HDC in next stitch, 2 HDC in next stitch* four times, SL ST into first HDC, CH 2, turn. [12]
Row 6: HDC around, SL ST into first HDC, CH 2, turn. [12]

Row 40: HDC around, SL ST into first HDC, CH 1, fasten off. Weave in ends. [56]
Pom Pom: (It helped me to have an extra pair of hands to make these)
Using Colors A, B, and C wrap yarn around flattened toilet paper roll until it’s pretty thick. Take it off the roll, and using a piece of yarn, tie the center tightly together leaving the ends long. Cut up both sides and spread out yarn. Using the long ends, sew into the top of the hat.
Elf Ear Pattern (Make 2):
With Color D, CH 5.
Row 1: 2 SC in first chain from hook, SC in next 2 stitches, 2 SC in last chain, CH 1, turn. [6]
Row 2: SC across, CH 1, turn [6]
Row 3: SC across, CH 1, turn [6]
Row 4: SC across, CH 2, turn [6]
Row 5: DC in first two stitches, HDC in next two stitches, SC in last two stitches, CH 1, turn. [6]
Row 6: SC in first two stitches, HDC in next two stitches, DC in last two stitches, CH 2, turn. [6]
Row 7: DC in first two stitches, HDC in next two stitches, SC, SL ST into last stitch, CH 1, fasten off leaving a long tail.
Flip one ear over so that they are mirrored.
Using your puff paint, draw on the ear details and let dry over night. Using the long tail, sew the ears onto the hat (so that when the hat lays flat both ears are shown on the front – reference below picture).
